“The Birmingham CrossPlex is a first-class, state-of-the-art, and premier sporting venue. The NCAA student-athlete experience is core to the mission of the NCAA and execution of championship events. The Birmingham CrossPlex staff adopted the same philosophy and together our two entities delivered a one in a lifetime experience for more than 1,200 NCAA student-athletes.
The ability for the NCAA to bring five national championships (men’s and women’s indoor track and field; men’s and women’s swimming and diving; and, wrestling) to one facility during the same week for the NCAA Division II National Championships Festival speaks to the quality of competition venues and excellent organization skills of their staff. The individual competition venues exemplify the commitment to excellence from a facility perspective which the CrossPlex can provide to any event. The event management staff, support personnel, and volunteer base in the community make the Birmingham CrossPlex a superb choice for any event holder. When requests were made outside of the ordinary (either operational or preference to event standards of the NCAA), the CrossPlex event management staff made the request happen in a timely, efficient and professional manner. Many times they went above and beyond in the request to ensure it met and exceeded the NCAA standards. The volunteers were greeting fans in the parking lot, opening doors and ensuring from the arrival onto their property that everyone was treated to true southern hospitality.
The CrossPlex delivers on the experience for the event holder and the event participants in every aspect. They thrive in their attention to detail and can work with you to collaborate on the most challenging aspects of any event. The NCAA looks forward to future opportunities in the City of Birmingham and specifically, to be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.”

“It was a true pleasure to work with the city of Birmingham, Samford University, and the Birmingham CrossPlex during the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships. From the onset, it was clear that the community, CrossPlex staff, hotels, and volunteers were committed to making this a memorable event. The communication and proactive attitude of all involved in the planning process made for an outstanding championship experience, which was topped off by how Birmingham welcomed the array of student-athletes, coaches, and fans by showcasing southern hospitality at its finest.”

NCAA Championships and Alliances
“Our member schools and our student-athletes are now able to compete on one of the finest indoor track facilities in the U.S. Our volleyball teams now compete in a state-of-the-art facility that can provide nine courts at one time with plenty of seating for fans.
The CrossPlex has allowed the AHSAA, which eliminated indoor track after the 2007 season due to a lack of facilities, to reinstate indoor track as a championship sport and the results have already been outstanding. Our student-athletes have run some of the best times in the nation in the last two years and we are already seeing major growth in indoor track thanks to the outstanding CrossPlex facility and its outstanding staff.
We moved our state volleyball championships to the CrossPlex in October 2012 and received rave reviews from our schools, teams and fans. It is a wonderful venue and the AHSAA is truly grateful to be able to showcase our member schools’ athletic programs and student-athletes in an arena of this caliber.
Birmingham’s commitment to the AHSAA and the CrossPlex is providing Alabama’s youth with the chance to be the best they can be.”
Alabama High School Athletic Association
“The CrossPlex has afforded us a state-of-the-art, world class track & field venue right in our own back yard. A facility like this not only benefits the collegiate programs in the Southeast but also will, undoubtedly, provide the high schools in the great state of Alabama the opportunity to train and compete on the best venue around. The CrossPlex track has reset the bar to a higher standard of excellence.”
Head Track & Field Coach
“As the head coach of a new collegiate swim and dive program for Birmingham-Southern College, I couldn’t have found a better partner than the Birmingham CrossPlex. Your staff, facility and management were excellent to work with! The natatorium has been a great resource and you have gone out of your way to make each competition outstanding. As a program we couldn’t be happier to be able to host our own invitational there as well as our conference championship. Thank you for being a part of our program and all the things you do.”
Head Swimming & Diving Coach
“As an event management company that produces athletic events across many venues throughout the south, we have found the Birmingham CrossPlex to be a world class facility, not only for its size, space and features but also for their dedicated and experienced staff. This combination allows us to continue to bring multiple events to this facility, year after year. Additionally, our athletes are excited to compete in such a facility and our staff continues to enjoy producing events in this great venue.”
